The Research Center is the objective of the Champalimaud Foundation to build a centre of multidisciplinary scientific research, translational and reference in the field of biomedicine. This Center provides all conditions for researchers and scholars, domestic and foreign, to develop projects of excellence in the fields of neuroscience and Oncology.
The Centre offers excellent conditions and the most modern technologies for biomedical research, as well as infrastructures to postgraduate education and master's and doctorate programs.
To pursue these objectives, the Foundation has chosen a proven model: translational research, i.e. making the bridge between basic research and clinical research, ensuring that scientific discoveries and new technologies are applied in the development and testing of clinically relevant solutions to problems. This intimate connection between scientists and doctors, between research and treatment, faster response to the problems that plague people.
The Champalimaud Center is open to the public and to be used by all. The gardens and other public areas occupy a substantial part of the available space. Panoramic gardens with a large variety of trees and green areas, an outdoor amphitheater for musical performances, scientific or artistic sessions-all this against the backdrop of water and river-are available to the city.
