RELEASED SINGLE MOUNTAIN VILLAGE IN THE COUNTRY
Awaken the sleeping giant of the Serra da Estrela is the aim. The long-awaited urban recovery of Penhas da Saúde is a reality with visible work. The first mountain village of Portugal will be ready in ten years and will be able to be part of the routes of mountain tourism in the Iberian Peninsula.
Considered one of the "wildest" projects of the Town Hall of Covilhã, represents a global investment of about seven and a half million Euros, financed by the III Community support framework, State, city and private companies and involving the phased recovery in several areas of Rocks.
A MOUNTAIN TOWN
For this area of the star is planned the construction of a mountain town, similar to some existing in Europe, with about 500 homes and trade zones which will be supported by various social, cultural and sporting equipment. This is a benefit for the Country, which can compete with the most important mountain resorts in Europe. An area
national and international projection, with that Portugal can compete in terms of mountain with other tourism in Europe, in the cities of massive, as the Alps or the Pyrenees.
The regulator also wants to create an ice Pavilion, a multi-purpose sports area and festivities and the construction of a stand of GNR.
