1994-2010
The Asturias Cafe was founded by an Asturian, in April 1961. Ten years later, Antonio Daniels and his wife, Mary Ades, owners of a greengrocer 's, found that the business had potential and bought coffee.
We were in 1971. Retained the name and became the most famous Tavern room Algés. There were women before you begin to read from the House in the morning, Belenenses players before training in the afternoon, the men before going home at night. Snails and imperial. Wine glasses and Woody Woodpecker. The always perfect accompaniment to see a football game, commenting on the news, some confess sins.
The family Barros was growing and, in 1996, Anthony and Maria felt it was time to retire. Proposed to the children, Fatima and Hélder, continue the business. So it was, but with some changes. The tavern of banks over the counter tops, wooden tables and white tiles left only the walls. The Asturias became then in Asturias coffee, a pastry shop, snack bar, restaurant, during the day; a bar, meet friends, with good music and many glasses at night. It was so until 2000.
After a refurbishment, the Asturias Cafe began to stand out at lunchtime. Homemade and tasty food. Fast and efficient service. Attractive prices. Growth and the desire to offer always the best made with that space was renovated a few more times. The last in January 2010. A new room, a new beer, the same greeting a friend and even smell the freshly baked pastries in the morning.
The May 6, 2011, the Asturias grew even more with the opening of a new space in Miraflores. A more sophisticated environment, a larger terrace and, apart from all that there is in Asturias of Algés, many snacks to try later this afternoon or at dinner.
