The National Pantheon, situated in the historical district of Santa Clara, occupies the building originally intended for the Church of Santa Engrácia, welcoming the tombs of the great figures in Portuguese history.
Founded in the second half of the 16th century, the building was completely rebuilt at the end of six hundred by architect João Antunes; Although he never was open to the cult, preserves, under the dome, the majestic ship space, enlivened by colorful marbles, decoration characteristic of the Portuguese Baroque architecture.
