The steam Pit is one of the beaches with better access to windsurfing on the Tejo River, like the Ponta dos Corvos.

Situated in the municipality of Almada, parish of Trafaria, this site is just 9 km from Lisbon, making access to water by a small beach facing the River North-oriented.

Is an excellent beach at all levels, although it is advisable to use 2 the 3 hours before and after low tide since the shallow bottom increases security and makes it easy to practice at all levels of practitioners.

With the high tide the beach is very small and in the case of existing large sweel at sea, it could conceivably come also in this small river beach.

As this beach is close to the mouth of the Tejo River is advisable to be careful in order to avoid the strong currents off may make it difficult to return to the beach.

With winds NW, N and NE lips can be made parallel to the beach and along the ground. Despite being safer, if the winds are too strong causing much "mareta" (wind waves) that makes practice easier for beginners, but with the low tide.

In winter the easts are the best winds here, blowing stronger especially in the morning.

In the spring the West can also work very well, but you need to be attentive to large waves coming from the sea usually associated to this wind direction.
